The M-51 “Super Sherman”
The M-51 is arguably the finest example of enhancing an item far beyond its original specifications to satisfy new demands. The Shermans' outstanding and versatile design is also a great illustration of this process. More than 20 years after the initial Shermans were produced, Israel converted around 180 of their own to carry a large 105 mm cannon.
The 105 mm cannon used on Shermans during World War II was
different from the 105 mm howitzer used on them, but a long, tank-killing gun
developed by the French. You can learn more information from our website.
